I realized more than ever the importance of stories, and how much they help children to learn. When my granddaughter Krishnaa was born, she elevated me to the position of grandmother. I made some changes when I wrote the stories in this book but mostly it is a true reflection of my childhood. We shared everything there, whatever we had, and that became a great bond among us cousins. I spent my childhood carefree, stress-free, with my cousins and grandparents at my hometown Shiggaon, a sleepy town in north Karnataka. She never gave us any sermons but taught the values of life through her stories.Those stories and values remain with me even now. My grandmother, Krishnaa, popularly known as Krishtakka, was very bright and affectionate. These are good to narrate to young kids, or if you want the kids to get into a habit of reading, along with passing a message. Initial stories are a little old-tailed but as the book progress to further stories, they are all kind of fun and educative.

Being a career-oriented woman who was so fond of technical things that never stopped her from loving her family to that matter in the initial stage when Infosys was getting its shape, she was actually the backbone for her family to run. Sudha Murthy always trusted herself and never gave up on her career nor did she give up on her family. She is an author but she is always learning which teaches us no matter what you are and how successful you are, never stop learning. Sudha Murthy even now has started learning an ancient form of Kannada and the place’s history, both of which she makes use of on her road-trips in the rural parts of Karnataka. When her husband converted their home as Infosys’s office and worked with his colleagues, she took up a job as a Senior Systems Analyst with Walchand group of Industries to keep financially strong and also worked as a cook, a clerk and a programmer for Infosys. This teaches us that, If your thought is right then it will find a way, so always speak up your mind. She then joined India’s largest auto manufacturer TATA as a Development Engineer. To her surprise, she was granted a special interview with a paid round trip and was hired on spot. She didn’t appreciate and wrote to JRD Tata raising the issue of, “Men only gender bias” at TELCO, asking him how a prime and innovative house like the Tata’s, which always thought ahead of time, could put such a restriction. While applying for the position at TELCO, she found a footnote that said female candidates need not to apply.
